Whoops.. I thought that was supposed to be strictly confidential? We were having dinner with hubby’s best friends and their family when someone threw the question to me. As expected, it is the once in 4/5 years most talked/discussed/debated ”agenda”. Before I could say anything, he said, “Vote anyone except the ruling coalition (BN), even if it is PAS!” Deny BN the 2/3 majority. I was like, har?
Hey, that was a very naive suggestion, I must say. So I asked him back: What good would it do if BN is denied 2/3 majority and if the opposition PAS, DAP, PKR, etc have their own individual party manifestos. Otherwise how come they are not contesting under ONE coalition the Barisan Rakyat, under ONE logo? And his answer was, don’t bother so much lah.. just vote the opposition whoever he may be.. I was dumbfounded!
Then he started to talk about a corrupted government, a sleeping PM blah blah.. yeah.. I was thinking, by denying BN a 2/3 majority, can we expect a corrupt-free goverment or Pak Lah to step down as PM? Can we expect Anwar Ibrahim or Lim Kit Siang to be appointed as a Minister in the decision-making Cabinet? How much of their voices can be heard in Parliament which is seated 3 or 4 session in a year? Why don’t the opposition target to be the next ruling government instead of just denying a 2/3 majority to BN?
Yes, there may be certain issues like certain “corrupted” BN MPs blah blah , but then who will not be corrupted if they are in power? Can any opposition parties guarantee that they will not be corrupted if they are the ruling party? (Disclaimer : I DO NOT endorse corruption). How about cronyism? It happens everywhere, in corporates companies etc. And who cares about someone is a candidate just because he is the son-in-law of someone, isn’t the daughter, wife or sons of someone in the opposition also nominated as a candidate just because they are their father’s children?
I am not a political analyst nor am I interested in politics nor do I endorse any political party. I am only expressing my views as an ordinary rakyat, who wants peace and prosperity. Call me selfish or a contented rakyat, I will only think of my own family and their future when I put that “X” come 8/3. All I want is peace and prosperity!
And you? Who do you vote?

Fever! No, I am not having fever, nor am I excited about any sport games, celebrity gossips etc, etc.. Every where in Malaysia, be it over teh tarik, kopitiam, and the bloggersphere is jammed with talks about the coming 080308 Malaysia Election.. And as expected, the annual Gong Xi Fa Cai celebration held last night at my residential area has been turned into a campaign to “solicit” votes. Even my little 5 year old Little J has been questioning me about the sudden existence of so many “Negaraku” (he means flags) around.
One obvious phenomenal is.. the internet especially blogs are filled with anti-Barisan National (BN) sentiments, while needless to say, mainstream media are all for BN. I know for sure that coming 0803, I will be staying up till wee hour to wait for any sensational news, will BN be denied the 2/3 majority by Barisan Rakyat?
