It’s the last day of 2008 and in less than 3 hours, we will greet 2009. How time flies. 2009 will be a very special year for me. I’ll be hitting the BIG 4 in August! LOL! I foresee tons & tons of excitement & challenges ahead in all aspects of my life.

Happy New Year!!

Beach, sea breeze, water sports.. then to hiking, then cold breeze.. from one spot to another. It was a great holidays.. a break that I haven’t had for a long, long time.. It’s back to “work” now.. tons of emails to follow up, tons of order to process.. and the good thing is..while I was away holidaying, I continue to get weekly checks.. now that’s the power of Residual Income!!

Updates will be scarce for the next 9 days.. My family and I will be holidaying and I will have limited access to internet. Even if I have access to internet, I do not think I would have the time to blog..:)

It’s finally coming..Not a good X’mas treat to fellow Sarawakians. Western Digital, will be the first manufacturer to totally close her factory in Sarawak ever since the US goes into econonic recession. 1,500 employees will be laid off!! Read details here.

A couple of days ago, I was telling this new-found rich tai-tai friend that my family and I will be away for holidays for 9 days. Her first response was… “What! your hubby so free ah? can go holiday for so long? He got no work to do meh??”

Oops.. that reminds of the days when I was in Japan, learning the lifestyle and working culture of the Japanese. I learnt that the Japanese housewives literally DO NOT prefer their husbands to come back early from work! The later the husbands come back, the prouder they are of their husbands! In fact, if for whatever reason their husbands come back early, they will have “no face” to face their neighbours. There was a case where the husband was retrenched and jobless. He didn’t want the family to know and every morning, he will leave home for “work” in this office attire and would spend his time at some drinking outlets or even playgrounds and goes home only past midnight!!

I was dumbfounded.. it was quite an eye-opener to me, a culture shock I would say. Fast foward to my rich tai tai friend. She was bragging about how her hubby comes back late every night, drinking, socializing, making tons of money doing that.. She sounded to be very proud of her hubby’s lifestyle and of course, the amount of money banked into her account every month, the expensive gifts she receive from her husband says all…

Looks like our government’s Look East Policy works after all….faint!

I have countless experiences. When certain incidents happen to me, I got this strong feeling that I have experienced that “incident” before. It happened not once, twice but countless times. It was in a dream. Yes, I am sure. I dreamt of an incident and one day, the whole “incident” really happens. Or is it the Law of Attraction?

Kind of spooky.. don’t you think so??

It reminds me of my father, many, many years ago. He was laid off and I was too young to remember what happened. I remembered he was making a good income then. Because dad was jobless, my siblings and I had to help mom to sell her home-made cookies and delicacies while dad looked for a job. I was in Primary school then and I remembered bringing the delicacies to school and sold them to my friends and got the canteen operator real mad because my business affected theirs.. I was reprimanded by the Headmistress for “breaking” the school’s regulations.

One of the most unforgetable moments were my siblings and I were taking risks when we did our rounds after school, selling mom’s delicacies. We were moving around from house to house, shouting delicacies for sales.. We entered houses of strangers and construction sites to sell to the workers. I dreaded to think what could had happened especially if fast forward to today situation. I mean.. look at the scary crimes committed every day these days. I can’t imagine getting Big J and Little J to sell my delicacies door to door. Thank God things went fine and we managed to bring home some decent income every day..

Dad never found a new job.. With the little savings he had and some loans from relatives, he started his own business. From a retailer, he became a wholesaler, eventually he became an importer and distributed his products to rural areas in Sarawak. He went through tons of ups and downs before he saw success. Our lives changed since..

Yes, tough time never lasts,  but tough people do.. To the unfortunate employed who are going to be retrenched, be prepared!!

I called up an old friend this morning, just to catch up with him. I was surprised when he told me that he recently got retrenched and was only given a month compensation. He has an MBA, speaks Japanese, Mandarin fluently and yet he has been jobless for 3 months now. Expect more job cuts, less overtime, smaller pay packets. Read here.

Fuel price further reduced by yet another ten sen from midnight tonight. I just pumped full tank at 4.45pm today and at 5.15pm, the reduction was announced. Hey, for the past 3 reductions, I happened to pump full tank on the day the government announced the reduction.. Call that a co-incidences or what???!!! Nevertheless, welcome the reduction all the same..
